AT&T allows to unlcok your iPhone as from 08.03.2012

iPhone finally allowed to be unlocked from at&t
Some great news as from yesterday att unlocks iPhone which contracts has expired . All you have to do is ring there customer support and ask to unlock your iPhone, they will provide with instructions how to do it, and you are FREE. Also this service is free, but prepare to hold for an hour at least as cue is huge.
Must note it only applies to those, who's contracts has ended, also you will not be able to unlock if you found iPhone locked to AT&T, if your phone is blocked due to not paid bill etc. than you out of luck, AT&T will not unlock your iPhone.

Since it is official iPhone unlock, all you have to do is connect your iPhone to iTunes (must have latest iTunes and latest firmware) and you done, free to use with any carrier. After unlock you can no longer fear to update your iPhone to the latest firmware as once unlocked stays unlocked. Does not matter firmware, baseband, model (is it iPhone 3, 3gs, 4 or 4s does not matter), it registers in apples data base that your phone is unlocked.

    That's really great news . AT&T are doing a great job and I am quite happy about it ,But I can't get my iPhone 4 unlocked through AT&T since I am still under contract. Anyway,I unlocked my iPhone 4 using Remote Unlock Service provided by TheUnlockSpot.com for a reasonable price. They also provide Remote Unlock Service for other models of iPhones(GSM) like iPhone,iPhone 3G,iPhone 3GS,iPhone 4,iPhone 4S,iPhone 5.
